Well, it's been a whirlwind couple of months...
That really, really good news I posted way back in December? Yeah, my wife and I are expecting! Just went in for the first ultrasound on Wednesday, and I was totally blown away. My baby was doing high kicks! We initially were going to find out the sex, so as to be able to talk to it by name, but we've been calling him/her "Prumpy" as a nickname, and that seems to fit somehow, so we're just going to be surprised when the day comes. We're also going to try to go natural with hypnobirthing, and we've taken the first couple of classes; I think it's going to be really cool...
We're still talking through what the little'un will mean for my work at the theatre. A lot of my design work can totally be done at home, so hopefully I'll just need to set my boundaries; no more 14 hour days, 7 days a week. But until that time, things are still as busy as ever. We just opened The Dragon, a collaboration with MadCap Puppet Theatre using marionettes. It was one hell of a difficult process, and I had no idea what sort of response we would get from our patrons, but it was overwhelmingly positive. Standing O on opening night!
In the midst of slashed NEA budgets, smaller house sizes (though hopefully not for the run of the dragon), and contributed income shortfalls, we've launched a pretty intense fundraising campaign in preparation for the upfront expenses for the Cincinnati Fringe Festival. But rather than simply beg and plead and "doom and gloom" our patrons into donating, we decided to do something different.
Here, then is what we propose...
I have no qualms about embarrassing myself for the sake of my art...

I saw the lineup for Fringe thanks to the facebook page. I'm interested in quite a few of them. It'll depend on the actual schedule and what I can get off at work. Last year was the first time I really attended Fringe and I saw 6 or 8 shows. Good stuff for the most part.
I saw that the designer of the puppets for The Dragon is up for an award. That's pretty badass. I'm interested to see what the show's like.
