I went to the Maximum Louisville show yesterday
Breather Resist, Lords and Coliseum
you have not lived until you have witnessed the WALL OF AMPS
it's too bad they probably don't believe in making music videos, because those would be the best "band playing" videos to ever appear on television.
Breather Resist had a wall of speakers AND some huge spotlights on stage.
I think Lords were actualy louder than Manowar
this was at ABC No Rio too.
I thought the building would shake.
I also can't believe it didn't get hot in there.
That was the best show I've seen this year so far. . .and I saw Cryptopsy last week. . . .2 times. . . . .
so what's next???
Melt Banana on Wednesday
Strapping Young Lad on Sunday
and Mastodon next month.
I also hung out with Josh (true playa) for probably the last time before he goes to Chicago. He's moving there.
We went to a Mexican restaurant, and a comic store, where I finally got the latest issues of Battle Royale (turns out I only missed two). They actually had the last few issues of Transformers (you know, before Dreamwave died).
(BTW - cute stacked brunettes with glasses who work at comic stores make me very vey very sad. . .VERY sad. . .)
Josh asked why I don't draw anymore, which led to us trading stories we were writing at some point in time.
Then we went to this little video store, which basically had Kung Fu bootlegs, and porn. . . .very well organized porn (vivid here, wicked here, zero tolerance here, platinum x here, "jenna loves" here). I freaked out Josh with my porn star knowledge, and we cracked up.
Then I came home, and listened to the new Coliseum EP, which I bought at the show, on sight. . .
amazing shit.
plus, I almost have the subway figured out (itd probably be easier if 3 of the main lines hadn't been shut down because of a fire since around November. . )
I just woke up now.
it's been nice and dry out for 3 days in a row. . . . . .the worlds about to end. .
EDITED A DAY LATER TO ADD:
I forgot to mention, the most beautiful song ever written (well, since "there is a will in the ashes" by Envy) is "all you need is hate" by the Delgados. . . . .too bad they broke up last week. . .
carry on
