2. my job closed for the snow storm today. they called me at 11:30 last night while I was watching Xavier Renegade Angel (on the AS site). I am stunned. They actually thought of the employees.
. . . . .of course, I've been sitting here looking at this site since fucking 7:30 this morning.

3. the next chapter in the "what fucked me up" saga. . .
I've liked "tomboys" for years.
as a child, at least when I was a kid, they really were pretty clear on what's "for boys" and what's "for girls". . . .
. . . . . .so basically, any girl who was into shit that is generally thought of as "for boys", I was into.
I still have this problem.
I think most of the nerd population on the internet have this problem.
That's why it's so easy to bait us by. . . .I dunno. . . ..taking naked pictures with nintendo controllers on your person. . .

FIFA '09 isn't bad though.

I got way into Premier League soccer last Fall, and thought "I wonder if EA puts these teams in the video games". . .turns out they do. . .along with almost every other league.

6. I turn 29 years old tomorrow.
I'm hit or miss on that fact really.
I'm trying not to think about it, since I've been so "fuck life" for the last year or so.
I mean LOTS of people live with thier folks now, during these shitty times. . .but that still doesn't necessarily make me feel any better about it. . . . or worse, honestly.
I don't aspire to a lot of things other people do, but that's partly because I've resigned myself to the fact I wasn't going to have them anyway.
and when people ask if I feel "older", my answer will be "I've felt older since 25, I'm really 69".
You have older relatives who are cranky curmudgeons that don't like much of anything???

7. I am building a computer. Of course, as you can imagine, a number of setbacks have occured.
I ordered everything from Newegg. When I got to the part where you lay the motherboard down inside the case, we couldn't find any screws. Called up the makers of the case, and they said "the screws are on the case. use those. That wasn't written in the instructions. yeesh.
Anyway, once we got all the shit hooked up, turned it on. Fans came on, but there's nothing on the screen so I can't tell if the bloody thing is booting or not.
Turns out my video card was bad. My DVD-ROM was bad too (the cheap ones aren't the best, that's for sure), no light came on, and it wouldn't open when I pressed the button.
Went to Circuit City. . . yeah, they're closing. . but they're at that point in closing where they're getting DESPERATE. I got a $200 video card for 84 bucks. Then went to best buy and got another DVD-ROM.
So, those work. . .but the computer was in fact, not booting.
So, after calling a family friend who does this on the regular, we came to the conclusion the CPU must be bad.
Great, back to square one.
Take everything out, put the CPU back in it's box, and get it replaced. Get refunds on the other two bad parts. They charged me for the UPS shipping. . .?!!?
It's really too bad there's no place that sells motherboards and CPUs locally. CompUSA closed down all thier NY stores years ago.
So, now I'm waiting for the new CPU to get here.
I pretty much ruled out the motherboard because A. everything else connected to it works and B. the pins in the CPU cradle aren't bent.

8. at least I finally went to some shows.
I saw Meshuggah at Irving Plaza (do I even need to tell you how awesome that was?) and then I saw Tombs at ABC No Rio. Black Anvil and Woe played with them. Two of the guys from Woe I talked to on pahardcore.com before. I met them. . .and Dave Witte (didn't even realize it til my buddy was all "no kidding, inalienable dreamless ruled". You know I don't fucking recognize anybody.).
that was the same week I had started building the computer too, hehheh.
