"a standing bloviation"
i came up with this title, but i couldn't come up with a story to match.
i used it anyway.

brown and i have made up several games over the years.
bosso relievo was a mix of nintendo golf and trivial pursuit.
now we text each other obscure lyrics from artists whose entire catalogs we are familiar with, usually tom waits or ween, but sometimes morning 40 federation as well.
we never discuss themes, and unless i'm completely oblivious, we don't usually have one, but today they all related to rain.
all over the world, strangers talk only about the weather.

naming trains is a tradition as old as the first rails.
...blame the men that leveled the earth in the first place.
Lupita and i caught the Southwest Chief as it passed through kansas city in the early hours of saturday and rode it to chicago.
taking the train always sounds like fun.
the ride is long and relatively smooth and comfortable and uneventful and slow and boring.
it takes just as long to drive, but the simple act of driving itself is more entertaining.
next time, we fly, even if 'we' means 'me.'
it hadn't occurred to me that i hadn't been to chicago in two years, since amber's surprise party. we all agreed that 2009 had been a wash. a black hole year.
it has been decided that i am amber's fiance joe's mini-me. i described it to Nils before the show, when i delivered the two closest-to-perfect loaves of sourdough to him. when he saw joe and i together after the show, he agreed and asked if we were somehow related. Joe and i talked about superheroes. IF it turns out that i am a superhero and always have been, my super power, apparently, is to worry about everyone's good time at the expense of my own. Lupe doesn't smile much anyway as a rule, but add a little discomfort to her blank countenance and it becomes very difficult for me to tell how uncomfortable she is. she developed a sinus infection and as a result, i constantly worried that she was having a terrible time. she said it wasn't that bad, really, that aside from a little discomfort, she was perfectly content. she worried that her shyness may have been taken as being stuck-up. nobody took it as such.
together, Lupe and i are a superhero team called Neuroses.
we have a good time anyway.
