the show went pretty well last night.
the tape doesn't lie and it didn't have anything bad to say
especially considering it was the 4th time i've ever played with these guys.
rob said he thought it was "pretty much flawless."
i've been playing bass for 20 years but this is the first time i've been the bass player in a band.
the band doesn't have a name yet.
the songs all have lyrics, but no titles....?
it's pretty fun to play with them
but the music isn't exactly advanced material:
mostly 3-chord repeaters with varying intensity for verses and choruses.
josh's vocal style is well suited for his music
but i don't understand most of the lyrics--
i mean, i can't really tell what he's saying every third or fourth word
and even as i sit here and listen to the recording, i can't tell you what he's talking about,
what story he's trying to tell but it seems pretty significant.
a decent rock voice, he sounds a lot like the singer of Live.
maybe what you'd imagine his early, pre-Live material might be like
with a drummer
and a pretty-good-but-not-great lead guitarist
and a two-headed eric avery and flea man trying to share a bass onstage.
the drummer needs mics and everyone else has a bunch of effects.
it wouldn't change the world like Nickelback or Creed, but would probably fit in well on the same radio station, and that's one that i wouldn't be listening to.
still, it's fun to play and i get to show off a little bit.

as i described to a friend about many things in my past that began without a future,
"yeah, it's kinda stupid, but it's fun for now."
