some fun december facts:
on december 22nd, the winter solstice, the sun stops its seasonal southern migration, reaches it's lowest point and then stays there for three days. directly in the vicinity of this is the constellation 'the crux' also known as the 'southern cross'. on the 24th, Sirius, in the east, lines up with the three brightest stars in Orion's belt. they form a line that points toward where the sun will rise on the 25th. on the 25th, the sun begins moving northward again. this rebirth-like movement marks the return of spring but isn't celebrated until the spring solstice which happens to fall on 'easter'. i find it funny how this occurs, and at the same time, several of the solar messiahs such as Horus, Dionysus and Krishna that were or have been worshipped for ages before the equally mythical Jesus the christ, all were born on the 25th of december to a virgin, died on the cross, were dead for three days then resurrected.
virgo is latin for virgin. in ancient times, the constellation Virgo was referred to as the "house of bread", depicted as a vigin holding a sheaf of wheat. Bethlehem, literally translated means house of bread! weird coincidence, huh?!
theres so much more.
hey, whatever you do, don't stop thinking.
