thursday august 3, and i'm Chicago bound to see
some of my favorites i've not seen before
and some i've seen many times
Lollapalooza - Ween, Queens of the Stone Age, Sonic Youth, Flaming Lips, Manu Chao, Peeping Tom, Perry Farrell, and a few others i'm excited to see...beautiful, verdant islands amidst a sea of empty-image-fueled-emo-pop; energy wasted by using it as sound... BUT..that's my opinion.
then back to the center of the country for a day.
six days from now i'll wake up and go to the airport and fly back to chicago
meet up with her, the one i call baby , and see the big one -
the once in a lifetime chance to witness the last of my living hero/idol/inspirations, TOM WAITS.
then back on a plane the following morning, i'll work that night.
two days later, the 12th, i will be performing my one man frenzy again at FRED P. OTT'S IN OLATHE.
then up early to work the morning shift, then to Fred P. Ott's on the Plaza to see my good friends from New Orleans, who are about to go HUGE, the MORNING 40 FEDERATION.
the only ones missing from this week are Nils and Dawn and Mike Dillon; if they were there, i'd see all the ones i consider to be the masters in an 8 day period.. crazy crazy crazy.
