good advice, often
easier said than done
some closures are only reached through ritual:
i took her pictures out of my wallet
and off of the refrigerator
and into the trashcan
and over the last few days i watched her disappear
beneath other things been released--
the used and empty, spoiled and broken
pieces of what were good in their moment.
it's not dead, but silent now, suspended.

if i don't live by my philosophy
then what does that make me?

on the other side of now
i questioned myself;
the steps on my strange path
and had a conversation with the new fancy-
a dialogue within, a dangerous assumption
that she would agree with my reasoning
when i spoke her lines, for she wasn't around.
i was wondering why i do these things
and it occurred to me in this debate
if i'm going to lose you
because i won't fuck you
then i don't want you anyway
didn't see that coming, did you?
this really isn't a game, it's the method
of the antiplayer.
