Went and saw Malachy Papers with Earl Harvin last night at Davey's Uptown. Once again....
Mike Dillon's percussive mastery blew me away for three hours. I really thought about leaving early as to avoid sensory overload, but of course i couldn't...this is very likely the greatest percussionist alive today.
It occurred to me that it might do me good to go out more and see some shitty bands. I only go out when the ones i consider to be the masters are playing, which isn't too often, but after WEEN this coming monday, all of them will have been here in the last two months. Keeps me humble, but skeptical of the talent/skill that people tell me i have. It doesn't really matter, i dont think i'm here to leave my mark in the musical world, but its such a beautiful one that i love so much...
