I hate lab goggles. They press in behind my ears and trigger migraines, but because I don't need them for my own work, I haven't bothered to get a comfy pair. Instead I get to spend 6 hours of demonstrating wearing ones that don't fit properly... and convince students that they should be wearing them too, which is a pretty hard sell at times!

Today was the 3rd prac for this semester, looking at enzyme function and the importance of controls. It's amazing how many students in a university science course haven't done any high school biology, and at the same time, it's reassuring to see how many can get their heads around the basic concepts so neatly, with just a but of encouragement from us. I've just finished teaching two 3 hours pracs, and now there's a stack of marking next to the bed that I can't contemplate looking at yet, thanks to the migraine. Maybe if I just turn away, it'll disappear and mark itself...

On a lighter note, I did get to hear a story from an honours student today about how she and her supervisor went diving for her project, and he managed to get seasick underwater and into his regs. I can't imagine anything worse! ICK! Can't wait to get over this cold and get back underwater soon.
