Saturday morning, 10:41 am. That's a pretty good sleep-in for me. Usually I get up at 5:30 during the week so a few extra hours of rest are certainly needed by the time Friday rolls around.
The sun is shining outside, I must go for a walk and enjoy this weather while we still have it.
I had a funny dream this morning. I saw on the news last night that the "Quebec French language police" are calling major corporations who offer "press 9 for English" on their telephone service, to tell them that they are violating Quebec's French laws by treating English speaking people like royalty. Royalty! Because we press 9 to get information in our own fucking language we are a supreme culture? It's totally ridiculous. Do you really expect people to sit there with a dictionary to look up every word??
So that was the background for my dream. I dreamed that I was going to Quebec city with my mom and my sister and I was told I couldn't speak English on the flight. It was a small chartered plane, so the flight attendant would hear me if I did. Well obviously I was outraged and I made a point to speak English loudly so I could piss people off. I didn't stay asleep long enough to get to Quebec, nor to have a cat-fight with a flight attendant, but it just goes to show how ridiculous people can be. I love living in Quebec and am proud to be bilingual, but come on, I don't think Quebec is losing it's French culture by any means, and trying to suppress English speaking folks will only push them to want to do it more. At least in my world, that is.
