I'm still hating the "new look." I don't why they "fixed" something that wasn't broken to begin with.

On another note: 10 days until we sign and this place, albeit lovely, is no longer ours!!!! Yippee! (I'm especially happy about this realization, because I just finished mowing our weeds (more weeds than grass), and I will never miss doing that again!!!!)

See I can deal with the rain, and wind without any issue. It's the snow and ice that I hate.

In October I was kinda down your way (eventhough not excatly close). At least once a year I go down to Cape Charles, VA. to visit friends that I have down there, and to play some golf. This year I was staying across the bay in VA Beach. As I was driving down there my friend called me to tell me that they were call ing for a coastal storm for the weekend, and that my golf plans would be screwed more then likely. Well that Friday it was windy and raining (no golf) so I messed Norfolk for awhile, then came up with the brite idea to drive up to Cape Charles for lunch with my friend at the golf course. Drive accross the CBB&T was cute. The tops of waves were crashing over the bridge, and the wind was super intence. It was fun.

Hope you have a good week.

you know, when i was in highschool, i always took art class. and everything i drew was something like this...a bunch of something and then the same thing just slightly different...symbolism. i like it.

(did you do that with your new point and shoot? because it is VERY clear!)
sadista:
Lovely flowers! And yeah, I hate this "adjustment" period where you can't edit stuff, can't get on SG at all half the time, etc.

The horrific memory of moving into our house 4 yrs ago is still so fresh in my mind that I'm staying put for awhile. At least it's almost over for ya! smile
I want to see Grindhouse as well. Marksy wasn't as keen to see Blades as I was, but he laughed harder than I did. biggrin
kriss:
Nice box work!
We would love to hit the beach with you sometime. Lets make a plan when you get settled in your new home.

ok, so posting about how stressed and bored I am seems really lame. I don't know how I can be those two things at once anyway,

Thank you all very much though for the support and empathy!

Today is Easter Friday. This means very little to me, other than I get the day off of school. WOO-HOO! This too feels lame. Apparently I have heathen...

That really means a lot to me... I've often looked back over my posts with a sort of "who the heck is going to read that novel??" And even after editing two, three, or twenty times, can't think of anything to remove. It makes me feel better that, while long-winded, at least they're not painful to read. smile

There are LOTS of ways you can use horticulture to reach kids - you could show teachers how to start and maintain classroom gardens with their students (indoors or out), and how to use those gardens to teach across all content areas (weather, butterfly and plant life cycles, art, appreciation of nature, creative and nonfiction writing, dance, music... the list goes on). Even if you don't want to work with children, you can work with educators to develop hands-on learning exercises that support state mandated goals and standards.

I'm working with the North Carolina Botanical Garden to help develop lesson plans for field trips. I've pretty much determined that I want a garden of some sort with my kids when I'm teaching - I know a teacher who has a butterfly garden for monarchs. Every year he brings in some of the eggs laid in the outdoor garden (maintained by the class) so his second graders can watch them develop and turn into butterflies. They release them at the end (versus the kits you can buy that force you to kill the butterflies after they transform). I feel like all most kids get is the stupid lima bean sprout you do in second grade then throw away. Why not have a veggie garden and let the kids actually see where food comes from and get to enjoy the literal fruits of their labor? More people in specialized fields should be involved in education in some way or another! You guys are invaluable resources to classroom teachers!

Well, thanks to someone taking down our signs, our garage sale attracted approximately 6 people and lasted a whopping two hours. Woo. But we made about $160.00, sold our breakfast table, a vacuum, the elliptical (which should have gone for more, don't ask how little), vases, garden tools, and other assorted things. The highlight of the day was getting to see kriss, not_tom,...

Right, April.

Fuck me I'm dumb.

Oh, don't forget about a bill, for like 15 months, but I mean it's funny if someone else took your address and paid for it.

Right?

I'm not a total pothead? (who doesn't smoke pot).

Garage sale here at Kitschy and Idjiit's on Saturday y'all! Come buy our crap, hang out, keep me company, and maybe we'll bar-b-que and drink beers afterwards. Most stuff that doesn't sell will be free to take afterwards, and woo-hoo, who doesn't want to be the lucky son-of-a-bitch to take home some crappy dvds (The Forgotten, anyone?) or an espresso machine lacking directions?

I think it might be warmer tomorrow. It was damp and windy here today, not springy at all.

Frik n' Frak, I'm so damn tired! Definitely ready for the weekend, even if I do have a butt-load of statistics to study.

Excuse me for a sec, I have to pull bits of pruned grapevine out of my cleavage....

Ok, better. Anyway, the huge, 2nd floor condo that we have been haggling back and forth with the owner about never came down to the...
