ok lets see if there are any computer wizzes out there...im having an issue with somthing
my laptop has a special cable to hook it upto my TV, so i can watch movies i have downloaded etc... it uses the white, red and yellow plugs that go into my tv. so when i plug it in and set it up i can see everything on both my moniter and my tv. when i go to play a movie that is when the trouble starts. using either real player, windows media or DivX the following happens with a .mpeg or .avi file: i can see and hear the clip on my laptop screen, BUT i can only hear it on my tv screen. the video does not play, it just shows a black screen and plays audio. now if i use quicktime and play either a .mov or .mpeg file then i can hear AND see the movie on my TV and on the laptop. soooo this leads me to believe it is something encoded in the windows based programs to stop you from watching stuff you downloaded on your tv. now i can either covert all my .avi files to .mpegs and watch them on quicktime (which is long and annoying) or i can find out what is blocking me from being able to see the movie on my TV. oh and also, it used to work, it only stopped recently, so i am assuming it was something in one of the automatic windows updates or something like that. so anyone have any ideas? suggestions?
