So... I jumped on the YouTube wagon except I never really sat down and thought out just what kind of channel I wanted to make. Right now the only video I have up in a recording of a livestream from Twitch. I find myself asking if I want to be a Tube gamer, or maybe try something else. Maybe I could just document my nerdy life? Vlogs and reviews plus the occasional game vid, possibly. I've even had some of my gaming group suggest recording our game nights.
The real issue I face is technology. As of the time I'm writing this, I don't actually own a functional computer. I have a tablet, but there's not much you can do in the way of editing on one of these things. I'm also sans webcam, so I know I'm missing out during my Let's Play videos since everyone want to see the gamer's reactions during the video. The main issue I'm facing is that THIS SHIT AIN'T CHEAP!!! I work a crappy retial job and the money just isn't rolling in, so I can't afford decent equipment.
I have several friends who are more than happy to help me learn the technical elements of video production, despite the fact that I'm pretty ignorant of most things computer, so I'm not worried about that part. I even have some tech-savvy pals who will help me figure out what kind of tech I need. It's just actually spending the money that gives me pause. Maybe I'm just cheap?
