My brother and I went to see some friends that were down here to enjoy Disneyland. Two sisters, one of which he used to be in a dance group with, their mom and the older sister's boyfriend. The younger one is around my age.
We got caught up with where we all were in life. Eventually conversation lead to how the younger one hasn't been dating or doing much outside school and work. I'm sure she didn't want the conversation going this way since we are in a similar place in life and I made no mention of my love life. I found this intriguing, I never realized how alike we were. While we share a similarity when it comes to rarely drinking I doubt she is a pot head.
When we were parting her love life came up again when her sister mentioned she needed one of my brother's lectures, the lectures probably aren't as epic anymore since I informed my brother that talking for forty minutes about the same thing isn't always the best way to pass along advice. At that point, partially because I didn't want her to go through that lecture, I mentioned that I do the same things she does and he doesn't lecture me, so she probably won't be getting it either. All of the sudden the dynamic of the conversation changed and now it wasn't a bad thing, that we were, according to her mom, saving money not going out all the time. What a crazy double standard. It's okay for a guy to fly solo, but not a woman. Maybe the feelings at the end of that conversation will carry on when they go home and my friend won't get as much heat for her current choice of life.

Hey if my family had their way I'd have a ball and chain and a litter of babies by now haha. Just tell her next time they start in, threaten to never get married or have babies, that always works for me

Concentrating on one's self is not a bad thing. I know I am a work in progress and have been greatly improved by not galavanting all over town as I did in my youth.
