I was watching Twilight Zone: The Movie and I always think about the tragedy that happened on that set. That lead to me wondering if I could ask a dead person one question what it would be. The after life would never come up. My question would be, "Was your life worth dying for?"
This brought me down the path of death and my long time understanding of it. When I was a child my Dad mentioned that I understood death greater than most adults did. I haven't really pondered much on the after life because I'll accept what ever fate awaits, if any. What I'm more concerned about, and I think I express it quiet often, is life. So do me a favor, when I die don't mourn my death. Instead, I'd like you to celebrate the life that I lived.
I once said that immortality is achieved in the hearts and minds of those who live on. Your ideas and life will merge with those hearts and minds who will then pass it on, and you have then become part of the human consciousness. That's immortality to me. I know I'll live on in my brothers, especially my younger brother. He's just like me but better.
The intent of this blog is not to get anyone down, but to express my feelings on how this country views death. So much importance is put on it, and that's not the point of life. You're going to die. There is no escaping it*. Stop worrying about death and make sure life was worth it.
*They are experimenting with yeast genetically changing them to live up to 800 yeast years. Obviously this is going to eventually extend to humans. After that they'll work on trying to discover true immortality. Not to be confused with invincibility which people so often mix up. The logical next step after this discovery succeeds or fails would be reanimating the dead. Welcome the zombie apocalypse. Then we have to cater to the sons a bitches.

hotcurry:
They better not create immortality. I barely have enough money to live as long as the actuarial tables give me now.
