Today is the day America. Time to prove to the World that we aren't completely fucked up and that we will rise to our greatest glory once again. Vote Obama, vote McCain, I don't give a shit, just vote. Now I normally wouldn't be so gung ho about voting, but there is a reasons why I was dying to throw my vote in.

That reason is religion. I wasn't shocked when I heard of prop 8. My shock came later when I saw a protester's sign that read, "A yes on prop 8 is a yes on religious freedom!" ...what? No, my dear, it's a vote on religious tyranny. Ignorance is my weakness, and I can't sit idly by when I see it. Vote how ever you want about this, just know what you are saying when you do. Religious propaganda is using the same scare techniques they always have, what the Bush administration has adopted, think above the influence people. Damn.

Even if you aren't registered there are provisional ballots and registration forms, and you call in a few weeks later to confirm that you do in fact have a voice. Well, at least in California. Fight the fraud. Use a paper ballot. Read it carefully, fill it in correctly.

A true patriot has a love/hate relationship with their country. I'd love to be a patriot again.

indeed it has. woo. i'll take it. i think i'm just frustrated with the whole thing. the measure in arkansas about gay adoptions got me upset & i've probably refreshed 4 different screens a billion times in the past few hours. eeesh. surreal

thank you for that bit of positivity. i needed that.

while i'm sure religion has a lot to do with it i think the commercials about schools & children really touched a large number of people. children are pretty much the thing i'm most passionate about so it enrages me for sure that they used them as a tool. i agree completely about the arkansas thing it really bugs me more than the thought of yes passing. uggggh. i just hope if it does happen to go that way it isn't by a super large number. it could be much much worse though. i'm still really happy about obama.
