Happy Father's Day everyone! Is anyone else getting the fear of turning into their parents today? My dad has been staying at my house for the last week and my mom has been here since Wednesday and I've had about enough of them. Thank god they're hitting the road tomorrow to go to a wedding. Don't get me wrong, I love my parents, but there's a reason I moved across the country from them and don't ever plan on moving back. My parents have been together for just over 30 years and most of the time they can't stand the sight of each other. My mom takes way too many prescription drugs and they make her really loopy and she doesn't remember things anymore. Both of my parents have had and survived cancer but they have no understanding of each other.
Seeing my parents certainly doesn't make me ever want to get married again. Does anyone out there have parents that have been happily married for a long time, like decades, or is anyone out there happily married for the long haul?
My parents are also some of the messiest fussiest people I've ever met. For some reason every time they got a new cup of coffee in the morning they had to get out a clean spoon to stir it with so by lunch time there were spoons with dried coffee all over them all over my kitchen counters. I will admit I can be a neat freak but they know this! They also literally unpacked all over my house. There are suitcases in the guestroom which is fine since they're in there. There's also one in my office and my dad's gadgets are all over the living
room, dining room, and kitchen. I'm looking forward to having my house back tomorrow when they head to New York. I'm starting to think I'm just meant to live alone.
One cool thing that happened was when my carnivorous dad got here he ate vegetarian tacos I made and actually admitted they were good, and even had seconds

See that's what a guest room is for, a place for the guest to be messy. I try to keep all my stuff in the guest room and drag out things like my laptop when I'm using them.
I was jaded about love and marriage...seeing my own parents split, then with my own experiences...
But, I did it again..because I found IT. I had no doubts, and I know it can work ♥
Keep your head up.
