I have a question for the ladies, or guys if you'd like to chime in. WTF am I supposed to do with my wedding dress and rings? I LOVE my dress but it's not like I can wear it again if I ever get married again. I also have a silver locket that he used to propose since I knew about the ring, and a myriad of other necklaces. What does one do with these things in this situation? I don't exactly feel right wearing any of the jewelry anymore.

I have a friend who's a jeweler and he says there is an old and long tradition to melting down jewelry from failed marriages and creating something new from the materials. It's a bit of the "phoenix rising from the flames". Very symbolic and very appropriate.

Hm. you could do a few things:

1. Throw into Mt. Doom. Not recommended, hard to make the road trip. ref - LOTR
2. Exchange with gypsies for gypsy tears: as I understand, said tears are v. useful in the prevention of shrinkings. ref - Borat
3. Throw in sewer so Frank and Charlie can find while they walk naked through the sewers. ref - It's Always Sunny ...
4. Turn them into a perfect filigree that represents your growth and maturing. ref - good idea, but not quite so funny
