I had the shit scared out of me at work today. As some of you know I work in banking. My department shares a building with a regular branch office. They occupy the first floor and we're on the second. We have some windows looking down into their lobby so we can see what's going on. Today at about 4:10 we got an email from one of the tellers that said "I think we're being robbed." Of course everyone in my department is constantly in email so we all freaked out at the same time and ran to the window. There was a slightly agitated man at the reception desk. We couldn't really tell what was happening so I called the police because all of the employees we could see looked really nervous. Before the police came the man left the building and went next door into Walgreens.
When I talked to the branch staff they said he came in and refused to speak to anyone when they asked if they could help him. He kept messing with his gloves and unbuttoning his jacket and patting his pockets. He was nervously looking around the office and kept looking at the security cameras. Sound carries really well and the employee and manager who were trying to get him to talk drew some attention and people opening a new account noticed him. It turned out they knew him. When asked if he was with them he said yes and they said no. That was when he left and went to Walgreens. Right after that the police showed up. They got there pretty quickly but everything was over in just a few minutes. The tellers are pretty sure if he hadn't been recognized he would have robbed them. Tis the season for robbery sadly.
I'm glad I'm not a teller anymore and I'm REALLY glad no one was robbed or hurt.
