Went to a formerly unvisited diner tonight after practice with Dok Moc. Food: sickening. Price: inappropriately high. Service: noticeably sporadic. Positive note: My shirt sleeves were rolled up when I took off my coat. The first thing the waitress asked was "What's that on your arms?"
"They're tattoos."
"Really? Can I touch them?"
"Sure."
"What are they?"
I decided not to explain Ad Reinhardt and...

I totally just bought the Oshii live action DVD boxset for less than half of the retail price on electronicBay.

Re-thinking about Ad Reinhardt I have come to the conclusion that he was one extreme of the mimetic theory of art. The other being hyperrealism and in particular pop. So he does fit in there.

Oh, cool flicks. Seen Avalon?

A rare Saturday off of work. Watched Ghost in the Shell: Innocence today with Dok Moc. Snuck in, not because we didn't want to pay, but because the line for tickets was discouragingly long. First film I saw in a theater since Kill Bill Volume 2 in, like, April. Film was outstanding. Oshii included a ridiculous amount of basset hound footage. I ridiculed.

Dinner tonight:...

Offered tips went into absurdity tonight: a rather bizarre man offered me two Susan B. Anthony dollars for my safekeeping of his deserted briefcase. Fortunately, he gave up with little contest ("No, sir, that's not necessary." "Are you sure?" "Yes, sir, it was nothing, really").

Friday night, my man B gave me a handsome tip. He was insistent, and I thought that continuing to refuse...

For the past few nights, I've had a few fingers of Virginia Gentleman bourbon, straight. This really is the best way to drink bourbon, in order to appreciate the flavor. Any mixer or even just ice would mask it; the best parts of the flavor are that subtle.

I was at work 16 hours today. My record is still 20 hours in a 26-hour period,...

I bought a tea kettle today.

I also bought another blue shirt for work, a black on black striped tie, and a bottle of bourbon.

I hate hallway rendezvous right outside my door almost as much as I hate the elderly.

Two geriatric ward refugees crossed paths in the hallway, right outside my door, and took the opportunity to loudly discuss the benefit of walkers over canes, the troubles of going down to the lobby to retrieve their mail, and how magazines are cumbersome.

If a ten yard stroll from...

One of the worst parts about working 14 hours a day is that, by the time that I get home, all of the parking spaces in the back are taken, and I'm left with the forgotten lot by the swimming pool. I greatly prefer parking in the back.

Trudging from my car to the lobby entrance, tonight, I walked past a man's necktie, haphazardly laying...

No, not yet.

To get to the lot by the swimming pool, one must drive through the other lots. There are only remnants of yellow lines to denote parking spaces. Few cars are ever parked there at the same time. Most people seem to prefer the lot behind the building; the entrances there are closest to the elevators.

it was intended as a joke. i came up with the idea after two of my friends and i were making up ridiculous haikus at denny's one night. then we made it a habit and thought it was ridiculously funny. which it is. the fact that you can't see my tattoo...i don't know what to say about that. you seem to be the only one who can't. it's not the best shot in the world, since i took it myself, but you are the only person whose mentioned not even being able to see it. you in a bad mood today, or what?

I spent over fourteen hours at work, for the past two days. Considering that I was scheduled for 10 hours, that means I've been "giving" 140%.

I think that a nuclear family lives across the hall from me.
