I have reached a stage in my life that quite frankly I'd given up on ever reaching by the time I was sixteen, yet here I am making plans and filling out applications to go to university. Because the course I'm interested in is art related, the main criteria in my getting a place is my portfolio, I've been working my behind off as hard as I can to get work completed ahead of schedule. So far I've done so much that I had to use two A1 boards for my first Expressive activity instead of the one that was needed in the brief, and today I got a hell of a lot done with textiles and lino printing that I'm actually feeling rather smug with myself. I know I have a lot to do between now and next June, but I'm no longer stressing with fears that I can't do the work, or that my stuff isn't good enough as even if it isn't I'm constantly trying to improve and learn new things.
Wow I love firefox, my laptop just restarted and I thought I'd lost all of this blog so far.

Sounds like you are motivated enough to pull through, I'd say give it a go for definite. Should it really turn out not to be for you you can still look into the alternatives, but at least you've tried.
