When I see all the ways corporations will try to sell some random products like it's heaven-sent, I like to think that it helps me not lose touch with the simple fact that material possessions are only feeding our delusions of happiness; and the more you possess, the less you have.

That book seems pretty interesting and I see things from the other side where I work too. It amazes me how so many people will literally buy things just because they're in front of them.
I'm currently reading World War Z and that has some pretty scathing social commentary woven throughout. Like corporations that sell fear rather than products, fear of being lonely, fear of sexual inadequacy, fear of getting old. Also 70% of the survivors have absolutely no practical skills at all, most of them being "Executive" this or "Assistant" whatever before things went insane .
