So I was driving my mother's car this evening, and discovered "Spin, Spider, Spin" in her glove compartment. This was my FAVORITE tape when I was, like, six. She must have bought it for my niece. Anyway... it contains such gems as "Just A Snail" (which I thought was the most beautiful song EVER) and "The Little Bird is Dead." I used to play it over and over and over again on my yellow Sony ghettoblaster.
Naturally, I had to take it home with me.
Apparently it was an educational tape meant to "teach empathy toward animal life and nature and help to develop positive attitudes and feelings."
I thought "Secret Is My Name" was SO haunting... with lyrics such as "I seek the silence of the sand, the silence of the prairie moon, the silence says, 'I understand, I will let you go your way, carry your tune.'"
Q: What was your favorite song or tape as a child?
