I'm back!
Back in Black!
Yeah...so, it was a good weekend, to say the least. Got into Indianapolis around 10:40 p.m. and my sister and brother-in-law took me back to their house...filled me with some beer then proceeded to put me to work! By 2:00 a.m. I had fixed their computer and figured out their problem with the HDTV they picked up. Sometimes I wonder if the reason they want me to fly into their town is so I can fix things
Friday we did a few things in town then it was time to head north for the big surprise dinner for my mom. We were running a bit behind so my sister dropped me off at my friend's restaurant. This place is the best restaurant that I've ever been in -- and I've been in quite a few high end restaurants. A few years ago he started to make higher-end "home" / comfort foods...some amazing dishes that make me want to go there everytime I'm home. Anyhoo, I killed a few minutes by knocking back the martini's -- slowly the family trickled in and luckily my mom and dad arrived before the rest of the party showed up. My mum was surprised to see me and there were many tears of joy shed! Aw...
Our long-time family friends showed up and we procceded to eat and drink ourselves into a stupor! Hours later we waddled /stumbled out of there with a great meal and memories.
That night we exchanged all of our birthday gifts, which was great. My folks got me a few gift cards, some new cookbooks and the one thing that I really, really wanted -- the 12 DVD extended verison of the Lord of the Rings Trilogy! The place I get all of my DVD's from (Deep Discount DVD) had a super-sale on this: the box set and free shipping was $70! When I saw that I called my folks up and dropped major hints
The stuff I got my sister looked great and fit her like a glove, which I was happy about!
Saturday was the recovery day! All of us were hurting so we did an early morning breakfast run to Panara -- had some really great Chai. My sister flipped the bill for some new shoes, shorts and a belt -- all of which I was in dire need for and beyond thankful that she dropped some green on me.
That night I met up with a friend of mine....who was also my last long-term girlfriend, but we stayed good friends. She's now engaged to an old ex of hers...who I've met and hung out with many times while we were dating...talk about a tangled mess! It's all cool though I both of them are lucky and I couldn't wish for a better person for both.
We ended up meeting some other people and went to this "cajun" restaurant that was supposed to be good but turned out to be pretty bad. That whole experience is a long story in itself and I'll leave that for my biography...
Got to see a recent episode of Angel which made me happy!
Sunday was a minor freak-out 'cause I couldn't do the online check-in...but even that worked out. My sister dropped me off at the airport at 12:45 and there was a much earlier flight (and non-stop) to JFK at 1:00! I tore through the airport, which was thankfully small but got held up by the security guards who wanted me to strip down. WTF? Okay, I know I'm pretty damn hot, but c'mon! Save it for the bars or something. Needless to say, I got to the terminal and got switched with literally 1 minute to spare...for $25! Ka-bang!
This was a really nice weekend. I love my family (and extended family) quite a bit and miss them dearly. Anytime I can spend with them is good -- we're all very tight and every time I talk with them they mention how nice it'd be having me back. Which is tough since I still don't have a support structure out here.
But things happen for a reason and what should be will be.
On a side-note, my sister told me that her and her hubby have been trying to get pregnant, which is really cool. Both make a ton of money, are in love and good people -- and I couldn't think of a better set of people who would make great parents!

And the guy in question wasn't the flaky neighbor, but someone I've known casually for a couple of years. Who knew?
