Holy flippin' crap!
Okay, first off...thank god that I had to walk from Northsix home so I could get my head straightened out.
I just saw...rather heard and saw the most gawd damn hot show! AMON TOBIN fuckin' tore it UP! Jesus help my hearing...
One big surprise (to me at least) was the opening DJ -- Blockhead! Wooo! Both are on (or have been at one point or another) Ninja Tune. I've listened to Amon for a while but Blockhead is a recent find and dug his stuff, so it was a double pleasure to hear both spin.
First off...Nothsix is a pretty small club -- maybe 150 person capacity max and it was sold out. I don't think, though, that they really packed it in 'cause there was enough room to dance.
Dance muthafucka...DANCE! I heard the call and was right in front of the stage for a good 3 1/2 nearly 4 hours dancing non-stop. AND WANTED MORE!!!
I've seen other well-known DJs spin, with the last being the mind-blowing Ed Rush and Optikal. While that was a religious experience...I have to say that Tobin topped them. Lordy, I haven't had sex as good as that show! And with all of the hot, sweat girls dancing around / with moi...well, it was damn nice.
I will say that the sound system was awesome -- which I think was provided by Tobin. When the bass was pumping you felt it through the floorboards, through your shoes and into your feet. If you couldn't dance with that then you can't dance...and Clyde, yer ass don't belong on the floor!
so tobin spins some hard breakbeat / drum & bass, mixing it with funky beats and some soundscape -- but at the end when he did a 1 song encore he went nuts! Whatever he spun was HARDCORE -- the sample I believe was slayer with this backbeat that had me twitching like a man in the electric chair, getting shocked AND having a seizure!
Damn...
I have no idea how I'm going to sleep.
On another note -- the photo is the new vinyl figure I got in from Disney. This is the main character from their first all 3D (non Pixar) film Chicken Little. Watch the trailer!. I think it looks good and I'm kookoo for cocoa puffs. And the character designs! The vinyl figure is still available through the place that produced them for Disney. There were only 5000 made and 90% or more went to Disney to hand out to the employees. The rest were left at the store to sell -- which is where I got mine. It's roughly 9" tall and the package design is great. Well worth the $30!
Alright, good night my people!
