I am addicted to sugar!
It's a wonder that I don't weigh 20000 lbs with the quantity of pastries and especially chocolate that I shovel into my gaping maw.
Before coming out here I was near completion of opening my own pastry / chocolate shop called "Dessert". The concept was pretty simple -- serve dessert! People could come in and get something after their meal or nab something tasty to take home.
Unlike shops along the lines of a bakery / pastry shop the dishes that I would serve were going to be a cut above the average puffed pastry filled petit four. Hand-made Truffles, toffee and sugary confections.
After talking with some people out here it seems that still might be an option -- especially in Brookly. There's only a few places I've come across to sell anything like that and most of the dishes I've sampled were sub-par.
I have to say that I am more than happy with everyone I've met since I joined SG. In the last few weeks I've had the opportunity to meet people that turned out to be fun, smart, intelligent and cool, baby! These outings have also helped me get outta my shell a bit...so a big thanks to everyone! Hope to see more of you at the Birthday drinking event tomorrow
On a more serious note, I read some really depressing news today. Hideaki Sekiguchi, a.k.a. Billy bassist for Guitar Wolf passed away from a heart attack at the age of 38.
R.I.P. brother!
I got into Guitar Wolf in college (I won't even say how long ago that was and managed to see them on tour a number of times. I've seen literally hundreds and hundreds of bands (hence the lowered hearing) and so far nobody's come close to matching the intensity of this threesome. These Japanese guys took American Rock 'n' Roll and made it their own...and then shot it into overdrive! People I took to see them had epiphanies a number of times, which isn't uncommon at their shows.

Don't worry, I'll be back with more roller derby exploits...I've just been really grumpy lately and I don't want to be a whiny bastard.
also -- i have just been informed that it's my friend Nick's b-day tonight -- so i might have to pass on the gallery outing, but i'll let you know when i hear what their plan is.
