Sunday You Need Love.
Woke up and realized that I ate a whole box of crackers when I got home last night. What the hell was that? I guess I had some kinda jones for crunchy wheat squares.
The party was great -- glad that I got my ass outta the apartment and over to the bar. Everyone I met (or gawked at) were very cool! Hmm...kinda found the girlie bartender kinda cute too -- so I guess it was a good night overall!
And yeah, I guess you could say that I am a bit shy around people...
Woke up around 6:30 a.m. and popped "Ray" into the DVD playa. Cranked that up LOUD -- fuck my neighbors, they need the soul. Amazing movie and man...I forgot how much I did like to listen to Ray Charles. Jamie Foxx more than deserved every accolade the he got for his acting / impersonation of the man.
Got my router unlocked and my PSP to access the internet for portable online gaming. Talk about a mindtrip -- holding this powerful, yet small device and knowing that I'm going to play against someone, someplace on this planet! Cripes, not too long ago an email from another country was a thrill.
Oh yeah, and finally got to see Sin City! I saw it at the Regal theaters next to Forbidden Planet (Union Square) and managed to get a seat in the DLP theater. Wow! Digital picture / sound makes a world of difference...talk about a crisp picture.
So, the film itself was amazing. Rodriguez / Miller nailed down everything from Miller's graphic novel series and then some. I couldn't believe how much the actors looked like the original characters and the dialogue -- so hardboiled! I was eatin' it up. This hyper-stylized flick might not be to everyone's likings, especially if you're not familiar with the series or with hardboiled crime novels. For me, though, this was well worth the cash and I'll try to see this again.
Next flick will be Kung Fu Hustle, the film that Stephen Chow did after the mondo-fun film Shaolin Soccer. Time Out NY is having a screening on Wednesday and you can bet your ass I'll be in line for this one!
Hmm...goal for April is to find me a girl!
