Let's see...work this week was akin to getting fucked with a dildo made of razorwire, spit on and then tipped a dollar.
'nuff on that.
Friday night was Fab! If you care, that is
A big night was planned, so I ran home, changed and headed out. Stopped off at Toy Tokyo and was ready to walk out but then noticed there were a ton of people waiting at the register to buy something. So I got in line and watched these guys throw down $300 - $500 and more on some figures. I've seen it before, but not as frenzied as that in the store! Turns out they were selling some hot exclusives for the Tristan Eaton / Seen show next door at their gallery (AKA The Showroom). The figures were sold as a set of 3 for $80 (tax included), so I threw down the dough and got a set. Pretty hot figures and limited to 300 each...
Hit the Fuse Gallery to see Daniel J's show -- who happens to be the guitarist for Bauhaus. Mmmm...gothic goodness!
Since Lit Lounge just happens to be wrapped around the gallery I then kicked back and had some great $3 vodka and tonics. The girl I'm sorta seein' showed up about 2 drinks in and we knocked back a few more then decided that it would be good to hit the gallery. The show was from 7 - 11 p.m. but it was already a mob scene!
We walked past the line and I saw Lev, owner of Toy Tokyo who turned to the bouncer / doorman and told him to let us in Aw yeah, VIP treatment! Inside it was packed with the usual crowd of street hipsters and cool kat. A ton of artists were there including Ron English (who did the artwork you see in "Super Size Me"). Shot the shit with Lev, who told me about some other shows that are coming up and about this hot, invite only party for their new store right off the Bedford "L" stop! Yeah, I'll be there
My girlie was kinda flipping out about the crowd but really dug the whole thing. We then split and hit this great Indian place and had a fantastic meal, which with topped only by the handmade truffles she did for me. Wow! that was very cool. Got back here and had some fun too
This morning was breakfast at Egg, hanging with my good friend Seth, Souvlaki, Costco, opening 24 Be@rbricks (and finding 2 chase figures...woot!) and watching the last episode of the first season of Battlestar Galactica (new series). Holy Crap! An awesome ending to an excellent season. Next step is to NetFlix the other season.
Phew!
