i'm going to be an uncle. turns our my sister has gotten herself preggers and one of us has managed to actually reproduce. this is going to be extremely interesting. i'll keep updates on it. lots and lots of mixed feelings about it throughout it, see it wasn't necessarily planned. one of the more interesting and entertaining side stories: for whatever reason, about 5 months ago or so my sister decided she needed to become catholic. so she's recently been taking whatever classes and doing all the requirements and feats of strength required to become catholic. now she has to do it as the unwed single mother. sure it's smiled upon.
personally, i'm thrilled. i can't wait to see this kid and who he/she becomes. it's going to be fantastic. i'm also very anxious to see where this leads the fam. around june 28th i think a lot is going to be flipped upside down.
moving right along.....
i saw this great clip of amy winehouse. i think she's horrible, but am really entertained by how big of a train wreck she seems to be. anyway, this video shows her onstage apparently digging in her hair for some hidden coke in, finds it and does a bump right there onstage.
incredible.
while on the topic of train wrecks, let me just get this in real quick. every day watching britney spears fall deeper and deeper into the shitter. it's mind numbing how ridiculous it all is, but nobody could even write that story.
in my own private little train wreck world, it should be known that i've got some really, really good pot right now. i haven't gone off on one of my little stoner rambles in a while. but then again, i haven't had weed like this in quite a while.
POSSIBLY MY FAVORTIE 5 CONCERTS EVER.
The Toadies, 3-14-1996, pittsburgh civic arena: they were opening for the Chili Peppers along with Spacehog. i had just kinda heard of them and was familiar with possom kingdom. they came out and played loud and fast. every song had incredible energy and god damn was there a lot of strobe lights. every song i heard i was hearing for the first time and each one blew me away. best band of the evening, and the chili peppers were amazing.
Beck, 2-1-2000, veterans memorial-columnus: while in college, when the Midnite Vultures album came out me and about 3 of my closer friends listened to nothing but that cd. the beck sex record madness came to a high point with this concert. my friend Tiff and me drove up to columbus, got baked with some corrections officer who was in the next seat and had 2 of the most amazing hours ever. the whole concert was such a crazy sight, it sounded terrific, and again one of the best light shows i've ever enjoyed. those of you who know this album certainly know the song Debra. that performance alone was more then enough for the price of the ticket. the final encore was simply a lavish red bed lowered from the top of the stage, with a lone spot light shining on it. by the end of the concert experience, this like the most logic way to end the show.
My Morning Jacket, 12-4-2006, cleveland house of blues: for sentimental reasons, MMJ is kinda unofficially meand my girlfriends band. you know what i mean. and this was the first time seeing them together since we started dating. so i could dance with her and grab her butt and stuff, unlike the first time we saw them together. but at the same time it happened to be a gigantic evening of rock. this was also the first time seeing them when they where headlining the show, so they really called all the shots and really dragged some of the songs out. 8 song encore. the place is kinda small and we got right up front with no problem. standing there the whole time feet away from Jim James rocking the place. he had fantastic snow boots on the entire time. and while he sang without a guitar he'd carry around a stuffed elephant instead. sounded great, kept everyone moving and broke out into so many rock outs. great stuff.
The Beastie Boys, 8-8-94, charles town racetrack, west virginia: this was during the fourth year of the lollapalooza festivals. they co-headlined with the smashing pumpkins and blew them away. Ill Communication was huge that summer and was again, pretty much the album that drove my friends and i all summer. this was also the first lollapalooza that i went to and one of the very first huge shows that i ever went to without my folks. the entire days lineup was great. green day, the believers, george clinton, tribe called quest, L7, b boys, and the smashing pumpkins. a few other bands i don't remember. luscious jackson and the charlie hunter trio on the second stage. the beastie boys set was all over the place, lots of instrumentals, old stuff, ill communication stuff. i've never seen a larger crowd of people bouncing up and down. ended up losing my friends half way through the first song. after the third song or so when the crowd calmed down for a second i found myself next to some really cute brunette in a goofy corduroy hat whose face i can still see today. we shook our white asses all evening. when they came out for an encore and broke into "so what'cha want", the crowd exploded again and split us right up.
Stone Temple Pilots, 5-2-1997, roanoke civic center coliseum: this was the summer immediately after my second year of college. it was also the first time in me and my sisters life that my parents were leaving for a week and leaving us with the house. we had this great party for a few days all leading up to this concert in roanoke, which is a little over an hour away from where we live. i can't even remember how many people went mixed with the number that we met up with there. cheap trick opened for them which was pretty unbearable. i've never wanted a band off the stage quicker in my life. sorry, but cheap trick is awful. STP on the other hand blew the place away. another case of each song rocker harder than the previous. an out of the blue acoustic set in the middle of the show, on a different acoustic set that lowered from the ceiling. they did a cover of dancing days along with the largest mirror ball i've ever seen. my obsession with mirror balls stems directly from that moment. Scott Weiland danced around all evening like a leprechaun loaded on smack. ended the show with one of the most rock show moments ever. he often sings with a bullhorn and at the end of the last song turned the annoying alarm on the bullhorn, shoved the mic into the horn part, slammed it on the stage and victoriously walked off the stage. it was chaos. fantastic.
there's a little trip down memory lane for everyone. i said possibly because the 5 best seem to change from time to time. for the moment, those are the best. if you read all that, thank you. i enjoyed sharing those memories. any good concert stories out there??
i've got super important stuff to tend to. have a lovely weekend.

Anyhoo.. im so against having a baby and not being married! I think its a strain on natural resources of the world, and it just peoples the world with more kids that arnt going to grow up with a solid ethical foundation. Giving them a skewed perception of life. Also not being provided with all the love and support of the 2 parent system. Financial and emotional. But i guess to each their own. My friend is having a baby and isnt married either.. i just mentioned that in my blog even! lol And i really hope the guy who knocked her up, makes her his wife damn it!
Anyhoo.. im glad to see things are going well with you..
