so turning 30 came and went without a lot of fuss. really no big deal, felt like just another day. my parents didn't call me, which was really, really weird. mom is the type that calls all the time and is always way too involved when it comes to stuff like this. pretty strange. megans gift did indeed rule. she got me this statue of an elephant that we saw while christmas shopping a month ago that i fell instantly in love with. this thing is huge and weighs a ton. once i figure out this new digital camera i got i'll post some pictures. maybe. all in all it was a great birthday. had some great sex, followed by an amazing smoothie, then cards with mike and kj and some ice cream cake. thanks again to everyone for the birthday wishes.

the day before my birthday i had to go to court for this ticket i got in december. i think i mentioned it a little in my journal a while back, but if not, what happened was after work one afternoon i blew through a stop sign and cut of a cop while doing so. and when he pulled me over and took my info he quickly discovered my little secret, my license had been expired since january. not the best situation to be in. long story short, i did some decent smooth talking to the cop and he ended up busting me for the stop sign and not having my license on me at the time. since the ticket involved not having a license, it was mandatory that i go to court to show that i do indeed have one. i couldn't just call and find out what the fine was and mail it in. so i get to court and sit there for an eternity. court started at 9, sometime around 2 i found out what my fine would be. $100. not bad, and that includes the court costs. it could have been a lot worse. i learned something while sitting there for 4 hours. when you go before the judge, if you plead no contest he will ask you if you have anything to say, and if you say anything at all explaining why you did what you did, you will usually catch a break. at least that day it seemed so.

now i have never been the biggest manko fan, mostly because she kinda scares me. however, that picture made my day when i saw it. she's a beautiful girl, that's a given. there's just something about that picture that i love.

since 2000, who has been your favorite band/musician to come out? i got into this conversation the other day and after a long debate i came to a obvious/strange conclusion. the band that has had the biggest impact on me and that i have enjoyed the most this decade is without a doubt the Gorillaz. and are they even a band? i definitely think so, at least that's how i see them. in my opinion, the most enjoyable new music since the beginning of the 21st century. so gang, let me know. who's your favorite to come out in the past 7 years and 23 days?
