i never got the chance to visit with the pretty girl on saturday.
instead i went and got drunk at adam's place.
i'll most likely be moving in with him around the new year.
work's been shitty.
this is my last week working late though.
next week my shift changes from monday-friday: 2:00pm-10:30pm to monday-thursday: 8:30am-5:00pm and friday: 7:30am-4:00pm
i can't see it being that much different, it's all the same work, i'll just get to start my weekends a few hours earlier.
this weekend there's a haloween party at the country club, i'm dressing emo, it'll be funny.
saturday i'm going to go see Hands of Death at sneaky dee's in toronto.
my Hands of Death story:
so i'm sitting around in a park in Trois Rivieres, Quebec. i'm hanging out with these bums, they're doing PCP and trying to get me to join them. later, as day turns to night, the park becomes more populated. i meet a lot of people. most of them are happy to have me around, so they can practice their english. this makes me happy, as my french is pretty bad. i met this guy mike. mike tells me that he's in a band and they're playing a show the next night. he tells me i should go check them out. mike got caught smoking hash in the park and disappeared shortly after. so where's this show? i guess i won't make it. i'm offered a bed for the night by this guy phil. he lives at his parents' house and they have a guest bedroom. it had been about a week or so since i'd slept inside, so of course i go with him.
we wake up the next morning shortly before noon. we have our breakfast at la belle province. after breakfast we make our way back to the park, apparently that's what people do in trois rivieres. just chilling in the park, not a whole lot going on, i use the pay phone to call home and to call a couple friends. by the time i'm done with the phone phil is sitting against a tree, having a nap. mike shows up again, he's carrying two bass guitars. one of his band mates is meeting him at the park and driving him to the show later, i'm offered a ride, and i accept. dave picks us up, we make our way to the venue, mike guestlists me.
there's cheap beer till 7:00, so i get as much in me as i can before it gets pricey. i talked with the bartender a bit about my travels, he used to own a hostel in trois rivieres, but someone bought it off him and made it all expensive. there's a few americans there, this band Covenance (ex Dying Fetus & Misery Index) is opening for Hands of Death. as it turns out, mike plays with Hands of death. it's a pretty good show. afterwards i'm invited to an after party at dave from HOD's place. Covenance is there too, it's a great feeling to be able to talk english with people again. Louise from HOD talks to me about where i've been and where i'm going. i mentioned that my next stop was quebec city. apparently she's going there the next day. she also planned on hich hiking. we agree to go together.
in the morning, after maybe 10 minutes sleep, we cram too many people into a minivan and make our way back into trois rivieres. louise and i are dropped off at what is aparently a good place to hich from on our way to quebec. the first person to pick us up was a young girl, she wasn't going that far, but still drove us for a good 15 minutes or so, she was going to drop us off in the middle of nowhere, and i'm glad louise was there, she talked the girl into driving us to the next exit which had more traffic. here we stand, at an on ramp to the highway. when i hitch hike i like to walk, but you can't do that with highways (police have bothered me about that before). we're standing there for more than an hour and things don't look too promising. all of a sudden, and they weren't going to stop at first, but an older couple pulls over, they're going all the way to quebec city. their car was way too comfortable, louise and i both fell asleep in the back seat. i hate sleeping in cars when i hitch hike.
louise knows quebec city, she's been there a bunch of times before. we hop on a bus and share a couple beers in the very back seat. she gave me a little tour, we met one of her friends for dinner, i can't recall his name right now. after dinner we headed out and saw twisted sister and scorpions play a show and it was awesome. we got separated leaving the show, but luckily we met up about a half hour later, we went over to a bar, i don't think we even had anything to drink, we were both really tired. she got a ride back to, i think it was her brother's place, they were leaving really early the next morning for montreal. she would have offered me a bed there but they were leaving before the sun was commin up, i'd probably have a better sleep outside. and i did. before we parted ways she gave me her phone number in montreal and the number of a friend of hers in quebec city if i needed to stay somewhere. we hugged, i thanked her for all her help, and i havn't seen her since. i havn't seen or spoken to anyone from HOD since. now that they're playing in toronto, there's no way i'll miss that show. i guarantee it's going to be awesome.
that turned out a little longer than i thought
