I'm just a little stunned over here...It's bad enough I'm stressing over the upcoming Texas gig and mini-tour worrying about if we will even have enough money and/or have a van to travel in, but I find out a close friend of the band OD'ed yesterday. Cripes, we even have a song written about her. It's just fucking me up. I never even knew she had a problem.
Lina was a big fan of my old band Black Friday. Yes, we had a bit of a history, but that was years ago. We used to talk all the time on the phone and I would make her custom tapes of her fave songs of the band. One tape was every known version of our song "11:11" be it practice, live, outtakes. That was her favorite song of all. We eventually grew apart over the years. I only got to hang out with her a few times after I moved back to Jersey. The last time I spent some quality time was watching the 2004 NFC Championship game with her.
It's hitting Andy even harder. He admitted to me last night she was only 1 of 2 girls he ever considered to marry. She was so cool and one of us. Like all the great music and movies. It's just so sad right now. She definately will be missed.
Yeah, Penny had stopped by earlier yesterday trying to talk me into taking my car down there. First off, I don't even think my car would make it. And let's put it in perspective, we'd be driving in the South, in August, in a car without A/C! Um.....No!! Last night though Andy came up with another plan. They're all supposed to talk to our friend Jackie's Dad who works at a dealership. Supposedly Andy will sell his car and be able to finance a van for $65 a month. Guess we'll wait and see. I actually looked up my credit report which surprisedly isn't that bad since I did declare bankruptcy back in 2001. I rate "fair" LOL! Maybe I could finance something too if that falls thru. All I know is I'm organizing my sports card collection for sale as a last resort. Desperate times call for desperate measures.
Cripes, we were even talking about selling blood and our bodies for medical science for quick cash the other day! LOL! I guess we really are all at fault for not taking it all too seriously. I guess we were just thinking stuff would magically fall in our laps. I know I should've saved my money a lot better. At this point I want to give up the notion of playing any other shows besides Texas. Christ, they've all been giving us the run around anyway. Either they haven't gotten back to us or it fell thru. I still can't get ahold of the club in New Orleans. My worst fear is we show up and they go "who are you?". Greensboro, NC was pretty much guarenteed but that fell thru. I even donated $20 like she asked for. What a sucker I was. I think we just need to get to Texas and see what Maureen and Cathouse Records really have to say. If that is all BS. Regroup, record all these new songs, maybe concentrate on places far closer to home and take it from there. This band is too good just to give it up. Something is bound to happen eventually....
