Kite's 4th of July BBQ - Wildwood, NJ 7/3/05
Wasn't even sure this was going to happen seeing Andy at work yesterday. His hand was acting up again. I hope it's just some kind of strain and not carpel tunnel. Think he's going to his Dr. tomorrow to get it checked out. I had a pretty awful day myself at work so I was kind of hoping he wanted to cancel. But sure enough around 4 he called me up and said it was on. Having just a little break lifted my spirits back up so I was game.
We must have gotten over there around 5. After setting up, Kite asked us to wait 'till 7 before playing. In the meantime I was keeping with tradition and pounding beers. It was definitely a small low-key thing. The cast of characters was Kite & Jackie, George, Jessie, Murdoch, K, and this dude Buck who we met for the first time. A real character and possible future security chief.
So we start playing and I could just sense it had all the makings of a good show. Here I was loaded off my ass and I was really hitting the groove drumming. I was having a great time. By the time of Im A Slug I could tell something was happening. After we finished Kite came up to the mike and said, The cops are out front, we have to turn the fucking sound down. Next thing I know I see him getting arrested! Theyre leading him out and were all gathered out front. Of course the whole neighborhood is out as well. The 2 cops were being real dicks about it. Had to of been summer rental cops. Everyone had to show ID and also give social security numbers. Friggin ridiculous. Cripes at one point they were threatening to get the paddy wagon and take us all downtown. So they take Kite off and Jackie and his Mom went down to get him out.
We were all gathered in the backyard just figuring out what the hell happened. Buck told us he tagged the squad car with an East Coast Zombie sticker! Too funny! Maybe a hour or so later Kite returns the conquering hero. We all hung out for a while longer. I got more drunk and had a mini drama with K because Im an idiot, but its all good now. The party wound up at Murdochs where once again I was the last Sheckie standingwell sort of! I got to see a most excellent set of boobies. It was all worth it in the end. Fun times, well at least for me!
