I had the most wonderful time with Martha last week, it was almost like having a second honeymoon. It definately left me thinking, could we get back together? I don't know, our current situations makes it seem unlikely. She's there and I'm here. It's not to say that something couldn't happen down the road. We'll just have to wait and see. All I know is it just felt right.
She flew in last Monday and Andy was kind enough to ride up with me to Philadelphia International Airport to pick her up. He played chaffeur while we made out hot and heavy like 2 teenagers. The first night was totally sensual, it's been some time since I've made love and not just "fucked". An amazing time.
Tuesday was spent going to Cape May. A visit was made to the concrete ship and gift shop at the point. I bought her a pair of Cape May diamond earrings that she liked. From there it was shopping on the Washington St. mall and lunch at the Jackson Mountain Cafe. That night found us at the Tokyo Japanese restaurant in Rio Grande with my chef and his wife, along with another co-worker. I finally got to indulge in my craving for sushi. I was so proud that Martha had 2 pieces as well. Didn't think she was going to make it, but she did. It was quite the feast and I was totally shocked that my chef covered the cost. They wouldn't even let me leave a tip. I couldn't thank them enough.
Wednesday had us walking the nature trail at the Cape May Point state park. I couldn't believe the results of the beach restoration there. I could actually walk in front of the old WW2 bunker there. That was pretty mind blowing to me. For dinner, Martha made me one of the meals I used to love, Mexican chicken casserole. We spent the evening watching "Clerks".
Thursday was spent at the Cape May County Zoo. It was pretty blustery, but we made it through. I liked the new tropical bird house they have there. We had lunch at the Court House diner. She made another favorite of mine for dinner, her famous sweet potatoes which went well with the ham steaks we bought.
Friday had us back in Cape May after breakfast at Uncle Bills. We wanted to tour the Physick estate, but it was closed for renovations. I wanted to take a carriage ride, but it still is the off season and none were availible yet. We wound up walking the Washington St. mall again. I had another favorite dinner that night of battered fish filets, mac & cheese, and stewed tomatoes.
Saturday was a road trip to Atlantic City. But first, we stopped in Margate to visit Lucy the elephant. Someone was kind enough to take a picture of us in front of her. Martha took some nice pics as well. We had lunch at the famous White House Subs in AC. Man, there was some wait, but it was well worth it. We gambled at Caesars and lost money pretty quickly. Martha made me a homemade cheeseburger for dinner. We then stopped over Andy's house where he made a Mii character of Martha for the Nintendo Wii. I then had to challenge her in bowling and baseball.
Sunday was kind of a lazy day until it was time for my band to go play the fire hall in Somers Point. I blogged about that in the previous entry. We had a fun time and a great show. It was nice to have my own groupie there for once! We stopped and got dinner from the colonel and invited Andy over to share in the feast. Martha and I then watched "Young Frankenstein" afterwards.
Monday was the big day trip to Philly to see King Tut at the Franklin Institute. I wanted to visit South St. as well, but we decided last minute to go visit the Mutter Museum instead. I always wanted to go there and it was well worth the trip! I finally got the see the "soap lady". I bought Martha a coffin purse from the gift shop that she really wanted. From there it was on to see King Tut. It was a little crowded, but you still got a chance to view everything. I wound up buying the $50 National Geographic catalog book. It was mindblowing and breathtaking to see the craftsmanship of the ancients that close up. The trip out of Philly at ruch hour was absolute hell. I was going in circles and it took me forever to find my way out. Kinda lost my cool at Martha and my sister for their backseat driving. Really felt bad about that. We finally got home and ordered some Chinese food. Thankfully, all was forgiven.
Tuesday had us getting one last breakfast at Uncle Bills and doing last second gift shopping for her kids and family. We got to make love one more time and then it was time to take her to the airport. When we got there there I ran into my buddies Johnie 3 who were on their way to Europe to play a tour with The Apers. Pretty funny bumping into them. It was then time to say goodbye to Martha. It really was tough after the wonderful time we spent together. The ride back had me tearing up for a bit, but I was OK. Found out later she went thru the same thing at the airport. Now all we have is the future, who knows....
