The Fire Hall, Somers Point, NJ 3/4/07
Ah yes, another last second show we found out about Thursday. It would be nice for once to be thought of first instead of "gee whiz, a band canceled on us, who else can we get? Hey, those dopey Sheckies are always available!" It was all good though, we had a lot of fun, and I'm happy that Martha finally got to see a show. Who's Martha you say? Why, she's my long distance wife formerly of Slidell, LA who now resides in Pelham, AL thanks to that bitch Katrina. I was just happy not to be the loneliest Sheckie for once, although I'm still disappointed that her and I didn't disappear for a while leaving my band mates for once wondering where the hell I was at for a change.
We all took separate vehicles and met up at the fire hall a little past 3. We sat all the way in the back near the kitchen hanging out with Brian from Just In Case. Sean, Matt, and Judy our beloved Sheckie kids and now of a band soon to be known as the artists formerly known as The Van Buren Boys since Judy is taking over on bass were back there with us as well. It was pretty much romper room back there with even more hi-jinks than usual going on. What you ask? Andy drawing cartoon characters non-stop and creating a puppet show with them, a jello fight which found K hysterical about artificial sweeteners, Andy acting like a seal smacking Penny in the face, who then proceeded to knock him down and tea bag him, Martha drawing a face on her hand also inspiring Andy and I to do so as well making them "sing". And the best, Andy drew cookie monster, which was then held up at the appropriate times to symbolize the cookie monster vocals being sung by the other bands (sorry kids, I just don't get those.)
We were the 3rd band out of 4 scheduled to play, so near the end of the 2nd bands set, we got all the gear in with Martha and the Sheckie kids all pitching in and helping. I had my kit set up and ready to go so when it was out turn we had the quickest change over time ever. It was a nice fun show. Was cool looking out seeing Martha smiling at me having a good time. We got lost somehow in the middle of "Radio Off" which was pretty funny. I know I was in time! :p We ended up playing "Papa Smurf" and "Like A Parasite" by request for the Sheckie kids. The breakdown in "Like A Parasite" had Andy thanking everyone and wanting to mention the next band up, but he forgot the name and said something like "I read the band's name on the 12 year olds ass" who was wearing some short shorts with them on there, pretty much pissing her off but cracking up her friends.
Afterwards we broke down just as fast. Penny got surly about something with the show set up and disappeared. I just wanted to go off in search of the Indian restaurant I hear is in the area up there, but Andy found out he left his drivers license in Philly so he wanted to get home ASAP So I ended up having dinner with the colonel and inviting that dope over. It was original recipe for the curious. Thanks LT and the other bands for having us, even if it was last sec!
