Memories Lounge, Richland, NJ 12/23/06
I really didn't know what to expect from this show. A lot of people were saying it was too far away and we were competing with Twisted fucking Sister among our regular crew. Then it got stressful 'coz Penny kept calling me saying how screwed up the directions were, they went up like 1 hours ahead of us. So now I'm getting stressed out, I forget the fucking t-shirts, which pisses him off even more when we got there. Andy's stressed out about personal shit. I headed straight to the fucking bar to forget about this crap. But you know what? Once we sat down to play it was a fun fucking show. We overcame adversity yet again.
Yeah, don't kill the fucking messenger; blame Yahoo maps for screwing up again. See what happens when you go out of your way to try to make it easier for people to get there? Well, at least we know the way now! Exit fucking 20 Parkway North, Stay on RT fucking 50 all they 'till it intersects with RT 40, make a fucking left, Memories is at the corner of RT 40 and RT 540. Ta da! I only say this 'coz we plan on playing more shows there.
My favorite band of the night was the first one, Faithless Heroes. They played a great set even with the constant PA troubles. The other 3 bands kinda went by in a blur. It was more Emo sounding than Punk to my ears. I was busy getting my buzz on with the $2 Rolling Rock draft specials and falling in love with the bartender, which was totally against my character. She was tall with short hair. I thought she was cute.
By the time it was our turn to play the place kinda thinned out a little bit. Brad from Guerilla Mask was kind enough to let me use his drum kit and set it up for me. The crowd that was still there was way into it. Sheckie kid Sean kept running up and sliding around a pole cracking me up. Kite, Shields, and Jackie were there and at the front. I actually was singing backing vocs again. I discovered I still can drum and sing at the same time, as long as I'm loaded. Bryan from the Seedy Record store was into and even sang with us on "Do You Remember Rock and Roll Radio". He definitely wants to set more shows up there. "Neg Mofo" closed things out with the crew up and singing with us. Overall a great show and fun time.
Trip Kings played after us and I thought played a better show than the last time we played with them on Halloween. Guerilla Mask was as Andy put it the "Deadliner" as the place was pretty cleared out by then which is a true shame because they're a great band and deserved more respect. Ah well, guess the Emo kids had to go home and mope.
