Punk Rock Xmas @ Michael's, Wildwood, NJ 12/12/06
Ah yes, I'm pretty hung over and should be in friggin' bed still, but here's my report on the Punk Rock Xmas show from last night. What a night! I even out problemed Shane Problem at one point but he quickly caught up thanks to the $2 Moosehead draft specials. Yeah, I was drunk, LOL, but I think I did pretty damn good unless someone tells me otherwise!
We got there early, a little too early and just hung out for awhile. I got to meet K's friend Colleen who I heard thought my stage t-shirts were offensive, so I had to break out the worst one, the "Bring Back Hairy Pussies" just for her. She was actually pretty cool and had a great time. Vinni from Styrofoam Paradise got right in, so it was possible if you got there early. Even Kahlua did as well. All the other local lunatics were at a "pre-game" getting loaded.
By 9:30ish, more people started showing up. So did the other bands. The Hollywood Blondes found it all right from their Marriott room up the road, friggin' Teabagger and his discount, LOL! It was great seeing those guys again. The Raucous boys were kind enough to provide the PA and Chuck was nice enough to let me and Billy from the Blondes use his kit.
I started hitting that beer special hard, I mean after all it was a party! The Raucous boys played a pretty tight set with hardly a problem in sight. I was busy giving out backrubs to several of my female friends; it would be the most action I'd be getting all night, LOL! Meghan did grab my ass though, that naughty little vixen! I had to return the favor of course. The Blondes were next and played a great friggin' set! I was so fucking ripped by then LOL! Sorry I can't provide more detailed notes; I just know it was fucking awesome! They opened up with "Shyra's Not Shy" (who I wish could've been there! L) and never looked back. Stiv was rocking the white-framed shades, Teabagger was flicking his tongue, Billy holding down the fort in the back. Great job fellas.
Us dopes closed out the night. It took awhile to get set up so I was killing time being rather obnoxious on the mic (Sorry den mother!
). Yeah, my drunken ass would be singing backing vocs live for the first time in ages. Being it was the Xmas show; we had to play Holly Jolly Xmas to open things up. We went right into Rock & Roll Radio, which we were playing out for the first time live. From there it was a nice set. We played a few songs we having played out in awhile. Shane Problem came up and sang a couple songs with us. The real highlight was when just about all our friends came up to sing along with "I'm A Slug". They stayed right thru for "Neg Mofo" and "Papa Smurf". Stiv from the Blondes came up and joined us on 2nd guitar for "Happy". Sounded pretty damn good, but as usual could hardly hear anything back behind the kit. Andy and I finished it all up with our "Ding Fries Are Done" acapella piece lifted straight from the Internet.
Thanks again to Raucous, The Hollywood Blondes (wish we could've gotten you guys some more gas money, hope ya's still had fun!). I also gotta give much thanks to all the local lunatics, our bestest buddies for coming out!
