It's been a fairly interesting week as far as things go. I at least got out of the house doing non-band related activities for once.
First up, I attended my first "pagan baptism" ceremony Tuesday evening for "my son's" newest baby Brody. It involved gathering around a fire, readings towards all 4 directions, and a shared goblet. Pretty interesting to say the least and more enjoyable than being inside a stuffy church! Afterwards I sat around feeling content sipping on a red merlot and then enjoying my first taste of mead.
Yesterday of course was Thanksgiving a day I traditionally spent with my guitarist's family, the Morencys. I got to watch football with Pop then we all had the traditional feast topped off with Mom's homemade pecan pie for dessert. Stuffed was not the word! I ended up napping while "Ahn Dii" played his Jade Empire game. We wound up watching the latest X-men movie which was pretty good I thought.
I also had an invite to have dessert over my son's house that evening. Wound up not going over until 9:30, but people were still about. My son's mother Irma was there along wth her sister Sylvia (who I hadn't seen in about 15 years). So I got to enjoy some chocolate cherry cake and conversation. Irma left and had invited me to come over for a visit afterwards which I took her up on. Watched some cheesy movie called "The Visitation", enjoyed some green tea, and actually shared a few kisses. It felt nice just to have some human contact for once. Just holding someone sometimes is enough when you rarely ever get to do that. A nice way to end the evening.
Times are definately tight as far as the band goes. I knew our little November trip would put us in the poorhouse, but it was so worth it. My work just slows down this time of year winding up with me collecting partial unemployment for a few months come January. In the meantime up 'till then, I struggle to get 25 hours a week. Barely enough for a pay check, yet too much to open up my partial claim. So here I sit just about dead broke with the other fellas doing no better. We can't even come up with the $100 needed to get the latest CD mastered. I also promised to send my UK friend "Snowy" the Best Buy version of KISSology for some English "choccy woccys" (in place of Mars Bars which I originally wanted but found out are totally different from the US brand I remember). That will have to be put off until some flow comes in. The most wonderful time of year my ass!
All the lemmings are out and about in Black Friday madness, think I'll hole up here for the day.
