Timmy Fridays House Party, North Cape May, NJ 7/28/06
Had to brave a severe T-storm to get there. Luckily the rain didnt hit until we got the stuff in. All I had to bring was my cymbals, but I wound up using my own stands and kick pedal. The rock and roll fan and my own throne are a gimme. Kit didnt sound too bad at all. It was Shanes old kit with the dopey pentagram on the front.
We got there around 5 and just sat around for a while hoping people would be showing up. 2 new groups were formed on the spot for our entertainment. 1st was Penny on guitar, Geo on drums, Andy on vocals with Shields providing some backing vocs doing made up punk songs on the spot. With such titles as Lick Your Pussy, Lick Your Nipples, & Taco Tuesday among others, you couldnt go wrong. Next group was Shane on guitar, with Geo on drums again and Andy on vocs. This was a more Metal sound with Andy doing his best King Diamond impersonation. He was even doing 2 fisted mic singing at one point.
After that we were all just sitting out front. It was quickly learned if you have a group of cell phones together on speaker you get wacky sound effects. I bet their minutes were burned up with that dopiness. Around 7 We did a quick warm up with Penny on guitar, Andy on vocs, and me on drums. After that since it was just our closest friends, we decided to play a set of songs we havent played out in ages. I actually had a great time and my foot was outta control. I dont need no stinking double bass set up tough guy! Was great playing that stuff.
We got done right at 8 the time the bands were originally supposed to shut down. Shane wanted NRL to still play and they wound up playing. Of course by then people were showing up. At least the cops didnt though thank God. I think there were more people crammed down there then at Philly the night before. They played a great set with Geo even sitting in for a few songs. See how great the band can sound when youre not falling down drunk Shane? What a difference a day makes.
Tinnitus played next (Andys brother Nick in case you didnt know). Shame most of the room cleared out after NRL. He played another great set of his little electronic ditties. I got my 2 faves I Lost My Mind and Dont Call Me That. Andy got up near the end to sing backing vocs for Hot Rod Granny and No More Spuds. After that it was time for us to pack up and go. Elzy was doing his electronic thing as we were going.
