Tour diary (pt. 7)
(written 7/18/06)
We're staying at a Budget Inn in Broadman, OH at the last exit before PA. Tonight will be the last show. Can't believe it's already been a week since this whole thing started. I think all these troubles we've faced has made us an even stronger band. It definately has been an adventure.
We finally got let into the club around 7:30 so we were outside bored outta our skulls for about 6 hours. Tommy Teabagger did come down around 7 to hang out with us, so that was cool to finally meet him.
My worst fears about the place was realized. It was a tiny sweatbox. Billy from The Hollywood Blondes was kind enough to let everyone use his drumkit, so me & KC helped him lug it in and set it up. I took a little table stand to sit the rock n' roll fan on.
It was good meeting Stiv again and the PBR flowed like water. We decided to play 1st. Before the show, J3 dared me to play with my shirt off and a few songs in I did. It was so fucking hot and I had a good buzz going I didn't even care. We played another great set. Penny once again rocked the show in his leather jacket. He also played so low his friggin' bass was touching the floor. Everyone was making fun of me air drumming that I thought I was back at the shed. A blistering set, literally!
J3 was up next and braved it without a set list like yours truely. They played a lot of our requests like "OAO", "Alyssa Milano", & "Teabagger". It was was sweaty sloppy fun with sing along with Johnie 3.
The real hijinks began when the Blondes took the stage. Stiv went topless as well. First people were throwing shit at him. Then we were sticking flyers all over him. But the best was yet to come. Andy went out to the van and got the industrial sized tub of peanut butter and a plastic knife and began spreading it all over him. Friggin' Myke planted a huge gob of it in his hair. Andy took a piece of bread and stuck it to him which I then chewed off. It was fucking insane and I never laughed so hard. It was also getting hotter and hotter so my shirt stayed off all night. The other funny thing was a perfect PBR carton helmet was made for Teabagger. It slid down over his face and even had a hole for him to sing out of. He should've kept it on!
The only thing that sucked was the other 2 local bands and the majority of the people that were there for them all stayed outside for our sets. I started heckling them over the mic comparing them to 14 year old scene kids. Fuck 'em! I've supported bands I personally didn't care for out of respect. Fuck Drew Carey, Cleveland DOESN'T rock! But fuck those posers, it was peanut butter anarchy inside and the place was trashed.
Afterwards we all stayed outside in the cool air. Andy got to talk with Jay about some bidness. Something about us maybe coming out here to record down the road. We would really need to start saving. We hung out for a bit but it was time to roll. Karma was a bitch, we sent K in to get the rock n' roll fan. I hear the girl that was running the show got into it with Myke from J3 after we left. Thankfully though the van did start right up. Teabagger gathered us $26 from everyone for our troubles. We couldn't thank him enough.
