Tour diary (pt. 6 1/2)
(written the afternoon of 7/17 - Cleveland)
Triple A came and the driver was knocking on the bottom of the gas tank with a hammer while Andy cranked it over and it started right up! Apparently it's a fuel pump problem. Don't know how many more times we can get away with this technique, but we'll try. After tonight there is only 1 more show at a skatepark in Austintown, OH. Ben from NRL called us and told us Albany was cancelled. Apparently it was an underground club and the cops shut it down. I'm kinda glad 'coz I wasn't too keen on the 7 hour trip to get there after Ohio. I think all the other bands were hardcore anyway so we would've been outta place.
So after the van started, we asked the tow truck driver advice. He said if he were a gambling man he'd go for it. So here I sit in front of The Church club. Wish I would've gotten the dude's name, but we gave him a CD as thanks.
The Church looks like a cool little place. More on the outskirts of Cleveland than directly downtown. I can see the skyscrapers though pretty close. In fact I'm parked under a little shade tree enjoying a nice breeze in front of it. I just hope it's not gonna be hot as balls in there and I can get away with using someone elses drums again. I am a little bit nervous about someone breaking into the van here more than anywhere else, but I think it'll be OK.
Trip here almost seemed short compared to yesterday, not even 2 hours I think. Andy and the kids are insisting on sitting on the other side of the street even though it's cooler here. Think they did find a patch of grass over there too. Cripes, hope someone gets here soon. We got a lot of time to kill.
