Hurricane East, Wildwood, NJ 5/30/06
It could've been the last music night at the 'ol Hurricane. If it was, we closed it out right!
I rode with Andy in the van. We picked up Tweety and Shields for the ride. After a quick stop at Joe Canal's for Shields, we were there. Place was near empty, and it didn't get much better by showtime. It's a shame it really didn't take off, people been bitching forever for a regular venue for shows. We did our best to promote. It just made us realize our strength is in all ages shows. I wish they would've ran some kind of drink specials to pull more people in. Hell, our crowd are big drinkers and they can't be putting them down at $4.50 a pop. Oh well, we had some fun times there and I can't thank the Hurricane and staff enough for putting up with our shenanigans.
Andy's brother Nick opened the show as "MC Tourettes - Tinnitis". He was the highlight of the night! Andy even got up and did a couple tunes they wrote as 12 year olds. I decided to get well lit for the last show there, maybe that's why I liked it so much. "I lost my mind" indeed! Andy particularly liked my drunk trick of pulling some of my own hair out and throwing it. Yeah, it was that kind of night!
I can't believe we got Pat and Joe "I'm sorry" in. By the end of the night the tube shot girl was trying to sell 'em drinks! I, being the responsible adult, stopped her. But I did demonstrate for the boys the proper way to do one for when they turn 21.
We got onstage next. Chuck from Raucous was kind enough to let me use his kit again. He also propped up that industrial fan blower thingy perfect on his drum throne for me. My hair was blowing like a dopey rock star or something. I'm definately bringing some sort of fan for tour. We opened up with "Girls With Boyfriends" and took off from there. Even debuted a couple new tunes, "Candy Bar" and "Stupid Movies" (Redhead Rob, were the fuck were ya for your song idea?). Shields, and Chuck & Keith joined us onstage for "Neg Mofo". Damian jumped up for "Papa Smurf". I played a great show, a couple miscues for playing a different kit other than my own. But I did good. I did get one "Never again" from Andy for trying a new drum fill in one of the songs, hell I forget which one now. Sometimes ya just gotta go on feeling!
I thought Raucous played great. Damian had some of his usual problems, but I thought it sounded good out front. They debuted 2 new songs that I had heard at their practice the night before. Killer tunes. I like the one where Keith is saying shit about Shoobies. Excellent! I think I broke my big toe on my left foot somewhere along the line. I know I got some bumps on my forehead from headbanging the stage railing. I wound up being the massager for Tweety, Reagan, and another girl at the bar. Who am I to complain? After a quick Wawa run, we hung out at Greaser Steve's for a bit. I was passing out by that point. Thanks to the people that did come out, Tweety, K, George and "Kaluah", Shields, Pancakes, Pat, Joe, Matt, etc. etc. Hope ya's had as much fun as I did.
