Just found out the Black Crowes will be playing the Tweeter Center in Camden, NJ on 7/21. Bad news is that's the last night of the Sheckies tour. We're supposed to be playing the Philly area as well. How ironic! This tour planning is getting me stressed out again. All these people saying they'll get something together and still nothing 100% confirmed. I just had one connection ask me to switch dates. But what about the show we had planned on that night already? I still don't understand how bands do this with management and/or a booker. I know it's all about "DIY" with Punk music, but it's leaving me frustrated and confused. I'll let Andy make the call on this one. Shit like this is why I never wanted to be involved in the booking in the first place.
I went out and randomly bought 2 tickets to see the Crowes now in Johnson City, NY on 5/17. That's a 5 hour drive from here. Yes, me with my paralizing fear of traveling alone. I was thinking of asking my buddy George to go. Guess we'll see what happens. At least I'll have the tickets if I muster up the courage. Please don't tell me how pathetic I am, I already know.
Still getting used to the daily grind at work. Lala is OK, but he's already picking up the bad habits of the last chef. For example, having the new girl Dawn do most of his prep. Here he is on salary and she'll wind up with close to 50 hours this week. Management will say something eventually. I know how that place operates being there so long. He did piss me off Saturday though. Looks like he expects me to handle the line alone in the afternoon. There should be 2 people on the line regardless. If this keeps up I will say something.
Looks like the band probaly won't go back into the studio until after the tour now. I was hoping to squeeze in time in May, but now Andy is a little stressed as well. Guess it will be for the best.
There was way too much drama on the one message board I'm a moderator at. Seems our Admin has a problem with a flashing smilie. He actually deleted it. Between that and him censoring the line "Can a nigga get a table dance" (you know, the Chris Rock spoof of 2 Live Crew) made me send him a private message asking to step down as a Mod. It isn't like it's a huge MB, this is a close knit little group of pals who know what to expect. We've always had risque humor and such. I had fears he would run the place with an iron fist and he prooved me right. What pisses me off is he took this public! He posted a grand thread saying how he was stepping down. A pretty sad attempt to gain sympathy. Pretty stupid if you ask me. I want to post my side of things but I've learned from past mistakes where that will go. Hopefully this all will pass and things will be back to normal soon.
Cindy's been pretty depressed lately, so have I. All this stuff just passing us by. It's getting harder and harder to keep it all low key. We still have several years to wait. The reality of our situation can be so depressing at times. At least we still have our music and laughter.
I spent Easter eating way too much junk. Wound up watching my video of "Jesus Christ Superstar". I may be a recovering Catholic, but I can still dig a sorta dated 70's Rock Opera. It's as close as going to church as I'll get. Say what you may, the majority of those songs are great!
Two shows coming up next week, a return to the Hurricane yet again as well as an all ages show up in Somers Point, NJ. Maybe we'll meet some new friends.
I've rambled enough...
