Jackie's B-day party at Mike & Renee's house, West Cape May, NJ 4/8/06
This was a surprise party for Kite's girlfriend Jackie. I don't think she was surprised so much, but it was a fun time.
I had a long day at work and headed to the party right from there. Looks like everyone pretty much arrived the same time I did. Because of the weather we would be playing inside. I was surprised all of the equipment could fit in Renee's dining room. I don't know if it was because it was a party, or I was tired from work or what, but I decided to indulge in some PBR. And indulge I did.
All Travolta All The Time were playing first. The first song was pretty epic. Told 'em it reminded me of Black Sabbath meets the Cure. They didn't play for long, but I really enjoyed their set.
Next up was Von Erick Rx. They call themselves a psychedelic rock, punk hybrid band I think the title works well. They had a full sound even if it was just guitar, keyboards, & drums. I enjoyed their set a lot and even got up to sing backing vocals on a cover of Accept's "Balls to the Wall".
By this point it was our turn to play and I was completely ripped. I haven't played a show like this since Kite's 4th of July BBQ back in 2004. Bill from Von Erick Rx was kind enough to let me use his kit so I just had to park my drum throne behind it. The set went by in a blur and I think I played pretty good all things considered. I know I had a lot of fun for sure! I hope I wasn't too obnoxious afterwards. I remember being confused trying to help Bill break down his Neil Peart type drumkit. I also remember having a friendly argument with Shields over the subject matter of my t-shirt. Oh well, it was a party!
