We're playing another show at the Hurricane tonight filling in for Just In Case. We'll be the only band on the bill too so it will be a 2 set show. I'm kind of excited actually. I'm looking forward to playing these new songs live for the 1st time. Probaly will be another small turnout so it's almost like a live practice. As long as our closest friends are there it will be fun.
I was starting to get discouraged about the tour we have planned for July. A lot of contacts were made, but I haven't really have anything confirmed yet. At least The Pity Whores and The Leftovers got back to me. Looks like a few of these shows will go down. Maybe things will get better as time goes by.
I think it's almost guarenteed that we'll be hosting the Johnie 3/Apers show at our local American Legion hall this June. I've tried getting it in Philly but once again, no dice. Myke from J3 seemed cool with it and I'm looking forward to hanging out with them again. I know Andy is excited to meet Kevin Aper. The Apers are a big influence on his songs.
Looks like the van needs a lot of work to get it road ready. Andy had to get something fixed with the steering and it needs 4 new tires as well. A bunch of small nit picking stuff too to get it thru inspection. NJ must be the worst state for that. At least Dustin our new roadie says he can definately go on the road with us. He's a mechanic too so that's a plus.
I had so much fun at work Saturday. The fun is definately back in the kitchen. And to think I was freaking out over Bill getting fired. Lala is so much better. I guess it was just my dopey fear of change. This is really working out great so far.
Speaking of foodservice, the film "Waiting..." is perfect!!! Can't say I would do the shit that those cooks did, but it cracked me up none the less! Lord knows I've felt like it at times! If you've ever worked in a resteraunt it's a must see. And if you've ever been a pain in the ass customer, learn a fuckin' lesson! Don't fuck with the people who handle your food! 2 scenes had me really dying, when the busboys were doing whippets in the walk in (I've been known to ruin a few cans of whipped creme in my time). Also when the cooks were watching the clock count down 'till the end of the shift! And then that table walked in 2 minutes before closing!! I've felt that pain!!!
Awwww...Cindy's b-day is coming up soon. Just ordered her some stuff off her Amazon wishlist. She's burning some of the new Black Crowes shows as well as sending me an extra copy of the Looney Tunes DVD set she somehow ended up with. We're so spoiled now, we have to hear each others voices everyday. Oh, we had a fun time with a joke concerning "her boys". She gets lots of stuff in trade and gifts even from people on the various message boards we're on. So in chat one afternoon I forwarded her a pic of Madonna from the "Material Girl" video. She now uses it as her MSN avatar! She even used it on the Crowes MB and wound up getting more shows out of it! Ah, guess the joke doesn't translate well here. Guess you had to be there!
Crowes are touring Canada in May. A couple of New England shows have been added too. Hope they come back to the Philly area soon, I'm jonesing for a show!
