Hurricane East, Wildwood, NJ 3/14/06
Although there was a small turnout, this was a fun show! A great 1st show back after all the dopiness.
This was the 1st show where we used the new van, "Salvation". Well new, old van I should say. And at least Murdoch agrees we should leave it with it's battleship gray colored primer.
There wasn't much to load up. The fellas brought their amps and axes, all I had to bring was my cymbals, sticks, & throne as the drummer for the other band playing, Just In Case was kind enough to let me use his.
Andy and I drove in the van, the kids followed in the bug. We got there right around 8. The other band was already set up and ready to go.
I sat around watching the kids play pool. Andy was remarking how much better they've gotten. Maybe they've been practicing these last 2 weeks. We all waited and waited, finally at around 9:30 a trickle of people showed up. The majority of the people that showed up were our friends. The usual gang showed up. Murdoch, Jessie, Matt, Derek, and Mike Shields made it out among others. I was glad we gave Shields a chance to have a fun night out after the loss of his father last week.
Just In Case went on around 10. Their sound had a modern rock edge to it, I liked it. I was really impressed when the guitarist picked up a sax and the band went into a jazzy instrumental. Overall they put on a good show.
We took the stage a little before 11:30. We pretty much stuck to the usual set to warm up. The real fun started when Damian from Raucous and Shields came up to sing "Neg Mofo". We were then joined by Jen and Jo Jo dancing onstage for "I've Got Problems". Next up we had people making orgasm sounds at the end of "Porno Channel". We finished things off with Exploited's "Sex And Violence" and an on the spot cover of Flipper's "Ha, Ha, Ha" with Shields on vocals with us. A fun time was had by all!
We all met up at Murdoch's for a small aftershow party. A stop at Wawa was in order 1st for us fatties. It was cool hanging out watching South Park. I even caught a powernap before we headed out right around 3 AM. A great show and great time being back!
