Hurricane East, Wildwood, NJ 2/21/06
This was kind of a confusing show. Originally us and Raucous were going to play. Hydeaway contacted me a couple of weeks ago and said they were on the bill too. As much as I love the Hurricane, there always seems to be confusion as to who exactly is playing.
The Raucous boys were going to use our stuff. I was setting up when Hydeaway arrived. They brought their own gear. I guess this is my fault as I should've communicated with them better myself, but since it was confusing anyway I never did. It turned out I could've left my kit at home 'coz the drummer ended up letting me using his. Ah well, Lesson learned.
This was Hydeaway's 1st show out in 14 years. I thought they did pretty good all things considered. I liked their classic Metal sounding originals. The most fun was when Chuck from Raucous came up and sang a snippet of Iron Maiden's "The Trooper" with them.
There was more confusion as to who would go on next, but it wound up being us. We played a pretty high energy set with hardly a "pit pat" break. The 3 new songs kicked thing off and there was no turning back. Raucous came up to help out on "Neg Mofo" and Wags helped out on "No Cranium" and "Shit Happens". We finished up with "King Kong's Lullaby" as requested by our friend Matt. It's the classic theme from "King Kong vs. Godzilla".
Raucous was gonna finish things up. I kept busting their balls all night about them getting kicked out of the Stone Pony. Little did I know they were basically getting kicked out of here too. Apparently Damian and the soundman don't get along too well to begin with and the next thing I know everyone is packing up and they're not playing. Raucous was too raucous yet again!
