Ever see the Sex Pistols Winterland video where Johnny Rotten goes "Ever get the feeling you've been cheated"? Kinda sums up how we feel after last night's show...
Here's the summary.
Our new buddy Greaser Steve let us use his van to load the gear into. And cross yer friggin' fingers, but we just might be buying it off him. A Sheckie van finally is on the horizon!
I was told there would be people there by 3. Sat outside for a half hour or so. Jones from ATAT finally let me in. The other knuckleheads wound up getting lost. At least they made it there eventually.
It was a bit chaotic and unorganized, but things finally got off around 6:30. LT played a short acoustic thing. Kinda felt bad for her as people were talking during it. People gotta learn to be respectful. I really felt bad for the 1st band too. They drive 7 friggin hours to the show from New Hampshire and the PA kept cutting out. Turns out the cooling fan on the back stopped working and it was getting overheated. Thank God Penny dug up the old PA head, but it was too late for them. Couldn't apologize enough afterwards.
The rest of the bands flew by in a blur. One band came all the from Maine. At least no more PA troubles for any of them. All the bands played their best and put on a good show.
Us knuckleheads finally got on. I drew applause for showing my disgusting man teats. I think Andy was talked into it for a buck. Our "Sheckies kids" got up onstage and sang and danced along for a few numbers. Heard they got yelled at about it, we actually prefer people having fun like that. We were barely getting warmed up when LT was saying one more song. We wound up playing a few more but still was onstage for maybe 15-20 minutes tops.
I'm trying not to be bitter about it, but when you're providing the PA and most of the bands are using your drumkit, you figure you'd get a full 1/2 hour set. The band after us played for at least 45 minutes. ATAT finished things up. 1st time seeing them play, I was proud of those punk kids.
Oh well, we got some extra flow for our troubles and we did move some merch. That will help getting "Generation TV" mastered finally! Guess I shouldn't bitch too much.
There was more drama involving wall punching but I won't get into that. It didn't involve us. I think the same kid tried to pick a fight with us earlier.
We learned a lesson last night, we stuck out like a sore thumb. Guess we won't be playing shows like that again.
