Hurricane East, Wildwood, NJ 11/29/05
I really didn't know what to expect with this last second show, but it turned out to be a great night with the closest of our friends and a few random strangers. They were treated to our longest show ever broken down into 2 sets. We were the only band so we had no choice!
Yeah, we found out about this show last Friday. It was so up in the air as to exactly who was playing I didn't even try to promote it until the day of the show. Considering the horrible weather and last second notice, I guess the 20 people who came out wasn't that bad.
We got there around 9. I had my trusty drum roadie George at my side. The Hurricane is a go-go bar by the way. Unfortunately for us the girls are off on this new live music night. I couldn't figure out how my fat ass was gonna get on the stage since there was no visble stairs until my fellow idiots pointed out the hidden entrance where the strippers come up. We would be working with a real live soundman which is a true rarity for us. So I had to get all the drums miked up, etc.
It was time to do a quick sound check and I thought I was back at Phil's recording. Having to hit each drum etc. Penny acted like typical Penny when it was time for him to check his vocal levels. Remind me to smack him in the back of the head with a drumstick next time he acts up. It was then time to wait around as they didn't want us to start playing until 11. I couldn't believe friggin' Lala from my job showed up. Pretty cool though. He was trying to use his "charm and chest hair" on our other co-worker Danielle, but to less than expected results I think. Other pals who came out included My son, Murdoch, Jessie, Jen w/ boyfriend and pals, Pat, Damian from Raucous, & Zinah.
We went on a little before 11. I entertained the crowd with a pole dance and ended up showing my disgusting man teats. My son tipped me a dollar that I held out my pants for. It was then on with the real show. I was a little tense at first but warmed up nicely and by the end of the 1st set was totally into it. The sound guy had suggested turning the amps inwards so I could hear everything just fine.
We took a short break and really thru in the kitchen sink for the 2nd set playing rarities and few 1st time live played songs. Was definately the longest show ever and probaly one of the best ones too as far as fun and playing went. The best part is they went us back. And we have 3 full weeks to promote it. Being it will fall on December 20th, it will be a "Punk Rock Christmas". I wanna go all out. I'm really hoping we get a good draw. This area desperately needs a venue for local bands playing original music. Hopefully this will be a regular event. It's friggin' Winter time in South Jersey. It ain't like people got much better things to do. We need to get some kind of scene back. Hope they support it. Now if we can only get some dancers to go on between sets. Don't worry, we're working on it!

Dude, your list of "songs that make you cry" was a knockout. By the end of your list I had goosebumps for about 20 minutes!

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it.
